Pretty good experience overall

So I decided to try out IndieReader for a Professional Editorial Review for my new book. I heard about them from another author. The whole process was pretty chill, you just submit your manuscript online and wait. I got the review back in about a month, maybe a bit less, which felt reasonable. The feedback they gave me was helpful, definitely pointed out some things I had missed. I didn't have to talk to anyone, which is my preferred way to do things. I'd probably use them again for my next book, it felt like a good investment.

Good service, small hiccup

I used IndieReader for a Verified Reader Review and also entered the Discovery Awards. The review process was straightforward, and I liked seeing the reader's honest take. Getting the review back took about 3 weeks, which was within their stated timeframe. My only minor gripe was that tracking the Discovery Awards entry status wasn't super clear on their site; I had to email them to confirm it went through. Customer service responded pretty fast though, which was good. Overall, it's a solid service for indie authors, just wish the awards portal was a bit more intuitive.

Fast and helpful review

I got an IR Pro Review. It was quick, and the feedback seemed fair. No issues with the process at all. Worth it for the price.

Smooth submission, clear communication

I submitted my novel for the Discovery Awards Entry during their early bird special. The submission form was easy to navigate, and I received an email confirmation almost immediately. I also opted for a Cover Design Analysis, and the feedback on that was surprisingly insightful, pointing out specific elements that could be improved for better market appeal. They kept me updated on the status of the award entry through their newsletter, which was a nice touch. It took about 4-5 weeks to hear back about the cover analysis, which was exactly what they quoted. No complaints, everything went as expected and the services felt professional.

What's the deal with the Pro Review vs. the Verified Reader Review? Is one better for getting traction?

M Megan Thomas 2 days ago
The Pro Review is definitely the one you want for legitimacy and marketing. It's an actual professional reviewer. The verified reader ones are more like what you'd get from a beta reader, but from someone they trust.

Pro Review for sure if you're trying to get a badge or use it for Amazon. The verified ones are good for feedback but don't carry the same weight for publicity.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how long a Pro Review usually takes? Trying to time it with my book launch.

J James Thompson 1 month ago
From what I remember, mine took about 6-8 weeks? It's not super fast but they are pretty thorough.

Yeah, I'd say plan for at least two months. They tell you upfront that it's not an instant thing. You send it in and kinda wait.

Thinking of doing the Discovery Awards. Is there usually a discount code floating around for that, especially around this time of year?

B Brian Anderson 2 weeks ago
Yeah, they often have early bird deals or holiday sales. Keep an eye on their site, especially closer to November/December.

I got a coupon for the awards last year around Thanksgiving. Think it was 20% off. They do them, just gotta catch them.

Is IndieReader legit? Like, are their reviews actually respected or is it just another vanity press thing?

O Olivia T. 1 month ago
Definitely legit. I've seen their reviews quoted on Amazon and other places. It's not like Kirkus but it's one of the better-known indie review sites.

They're real. My book got an IR Approved badge and it actually helped with some marketing. They don't just hand out good reviews either, if your book isn't good, they'll say so.
